    NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN\, that the Board of Appeal and Equalizatio n for the Township of Lent\, CHISAGO County\, Minnesota\, will meet at the Office of the Clerk in said Township at 33155 Hemingway Ave.\, Stacy\, MN 55079 At 6:00 (6 o’clock) P. M.\, on Thursday the 27th day of April 2023 for the purpose of reviewing and correcting the assessment of said Townshi p of Lent for the year 2023. The purpose of this meeting is to determine w hether taxable property in the jurisdiction has been properly valued and c lassified by the assessor\, and to determine whether corrections need to b e made. All persons considering themselves aggrieved by said assessment\, or who wish to complain that the property of another is assessed too low\, are hereby notified to appear at said meeting\, and show cause of having such assessment corrected. No complaint that another person is assessed to o low will be acted upon until the person so assessed or their agent\, sha ll have been notified of such complaint. Minnesota Statute 160.2715 RIGHT-OF-WAY USE\; MISDEMEANORS states\, “it shall be unlawful to: (1) obstruct any highway or deposit snow or ice thereon”.     Building Permits within the Township of Lent

    \n

    Chisago County Environmental Services/Z oning – 651-213-8371

    Lent Township co ntracts with Chisago County Department of Environmental Services and Zonin g for building permitting\, plan review and inspections.

    \n

    Building permits are required for all new construction and most remodeling\, altera tion\, and repair work in the Township of Lent. Some permits such as rero of or reside only require filling out the application* and paying the fee. Most other building projects (deck\, addition\, accessory structure\, rem odel) require two sets of plans to be submitted for a plan review\, and a survey showing all proposed setbacks. All permits are to be applied for a t the Environmental Services Department in the Government Center in Center City. Staff will determine the construction value and permit fee at the time of application\, and the permit will be paid for at that time. After the permit is processed and issued the permit will be mailed to the owner or contractor (whichever is designated at the time of application). All ch ecks should be made payable to the Chisago County Treasurer.

    \n

    *The building permit applications are in triplicate\, and therefore are not available on the website – please contact the County office at 651-21 3-8372 for mailing of permits.

    \n

    Inspections –Please call t he Environmental Services Department at 651-213-8371 to schedule an inspec tion. Information needed includes the site address\, permit number\, and t ype of inspection. Typically\, 24 hours is considered adequate notice.

    \n

    A Certificate of Occupancy is issued for new home construction upon r equest and completion of all final building\, plumbing and mechanical insp ections. All life safety issues must be completed as well\, for specific questions regarding these items please call the County building inspector.

    \n

    Driveway permits for access from a Township road should be obtain ed from the Environmental Services office\; Chisago County Public Works in Center City issues driveway permits for accesses on County Roads. A fee w ill be assessed for emergency 911 address signs and swing-arm mailbox post s at the time of a new home application as well.

    \n

    Zoning informatio n such as the minimum square footage for a single-family dwelling\, permit ted uses in specific districts\, as well as setback information should be obtained from the Township.

    \n

    The County does not issue electrical p ermits or inspect or regulate electrical work. The Minnesota State Board of Electricity should be contacted at 651-284-5064 if you are doing your o wn wiring. The State Electrical Inspector is Mark Thoma and he may be co ntacted for electrical inspections at 320-309-9483.
