      Notice is hereby given\, that the General Election of the Townsh ip of Lent\, County of Chisago\, State of Minnesota will be held on Tuesda y\, November 8\, 2022 between the hours of 7:00 am and 8:00 pm for the pur pose of electing candidates for Board of Supervisor Seats A\, C\, D for a term of four years each.       Building Permits within the Township of Lent

      \n

      Chisago County Environmental Services/Zoning – 651-213-8371

      \n

      Lent Township contracts with Chisago Cou nty Department of Environmental Services and Zoning for building permittin g\, plan review and inspections.

      \n

      Building permits are required for all new construction and most remodeling\, alteration\, and repair work i n the Township of Lent. Some permits such as reroof or reside only requir e filling out the application* and paying the fee. Most other building pro jects (deck\, addition\, accessory structure\, remodel) require two sets o f plans to be submitted for a plan review\, and a survey showing all propo sed setbacks. All permits are to be applied for at the Environmental Serv ices Department in the Government Center in Center City. Staff will deter mine the construction value and permit fee at the time of application\, an d the permit will be paid for at that time. After the permit is processed and issued the permit will be mailed to the owner or contractor (whichever is designated at the time of application). All checks should be made paya ble to the Chisago County Treasurer.

      \n

      *The building permit applications are in triplicate\, and therefore are not available on the we bsite – please contact the County office at 651-213-8372 for mailing of pe rmits.

      \n

      Inspections –Please call the Environmental Service s Department at 651-213-8371 to schedule an inspection. Information needed includes the site address\, permit number\, and type of inspection. Typic ally\, 24 hours is considered adequate notice.

      \n

      A Certificate of Oc cupancy is issued for new home construction upon request and completion of all final building\, plumbing and mechanical inspections. All life safet y issues must be completed as well\, for specific questions regarding thes e items please call the County building inspector.

      \n

      Driveway permit s for access from a Township road should be obtained from the Environmenta l Services office\; Chisago County Public Works in Center City issues driv eway permits for accesses on County Roads. A fee will be assessed for emer gency 911 address signs and swing-arm mailbox posts at the time of a new h ome application as well.

      \n

      Zoning information such as the minimum sq uare footage for a single-family dwelling\, permitted uses in specific dis tricts\, as well as setback information should be obtained from the Townsh ip.

      \n

      The County does not issue electrical permits or inspect or reg ulate electrical work. The Minnesota State Board of Electricity should be contacted at 651-284-5064 if you are doing your own wiring. The State E lectrical Inspector is Mark Thoma and he may be contacted for electrical i nspections at 320-309-9483.
