    NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN\, that the Board of App eal and Equalization for the Township of Lent\, CHISAGO County\, Minnesota \, will meet at the Office of the Clerk in said Township at 33155 Hemingwa y Ave.\, Stacy\, MN 55079 At 6:00 (6 o’clock) P. M.\, on Thursday the 27th day of April 2023 for the purpose of reviewing and correcting the assessm ent of said Township of Lent for the year 2023. The purpose of this meetin g is to determine whether taxable property in the jurisdiction has been pr operly valued and classified by the assessor\, and to determine whether co rrections need to be made. All persons considering themselves aggrieved by said assessment\, or who wish to complain that the property of another is assessed too low\, are hereby notified to appear at said meeting\, and sh ow cause of having such assessment corrected. No complaint that another pe rson is assessed too low will be acted upon until the person so assessed o r their agent\, shall have been notified of such complaint. If you believe the value or classification of your property is incorrect\, please contac t your assessor’s office to discuss your concerns. Piles of snow left on or near the roadway can freeze into a solid mass creating a hazardous situation for vehicles and snowplows.

    Building Permits within the Township of Lent

    \n

    Chisago County Envir onmental Services/Zoning – 651-213-8371

    \n

    Lent Township contracts with Chisago County Department of Environmental Services and Zoning for building permitting\, plan review and inspections .

    \n

    Building permits are required for all new construction and most remodeling\, alteration\, and repair work in the Township of Lent. Some p ermits such as reroof or reside only require filling out the application* and paying the fee. Most other building projects (deck\, addition\, access ory structure\, remodel) require two sets of plans to be submitted for a p lan review\, and a survey showing all proposed setbacks. All permits are to be applied for at the Environmental Services Department in the Governme nt Center in Center City. Staff will determine the construction value and permit fee at the time of application\, and the permit will be paid for a t that time. After the permit is processed and issued the permit will be m ailed to the owner or contractor (whichever is designated at the time of a pplication). All checks should be made payable to the Chisago County Treas urer.

    \n

    *The building permit applications are in triplicate\ , and therefore are not available on the website – please contact the Coun ty office at 651-213-8372 for mailing of permits.

    \n

    Inspect ions –Please call the Environmental Services Department at 651-213-8371 to schedule an inspection. Information needed includes the site address\, pe rmit number\, and type of inspection. Typically\, 24 hours is considered a dequate notice.

    \n

    A Certificate of Occupancy is issued for new home construction upon request and completion of all final building\, plumbing and mechanical inspections. All life safety issues must be completed as w ell\, for specific questions regarding these items please call the County building inspector.

    \n

    Driveway permits for access from a Township ro ad should be obtained from the Environmental Services office\; Chisago Cou nty Public Works in Center City issues driveway permits for accesses on Co unty Roads. A fee will be assessed for emergency 911 address signs and swi ng-arm mailbox posts at the time of a new home application as well.

    \n< p>Zoning information such as the minimum square footage for a single-famil y dwelling\, permitted uses in specific districts\, as well as setback inf ormation should be obtained from the Township.

    \n

    The County does not issue electrical permits or inspect or regulate electrical work. The Min nesota State Board of Electricity should be contacted at 651-284-5064 if y ou are doing your own wiring. The State Electrical Inspector is Mark Tho ma and he may be contacted for electrical inspections at 320-309-9483.
